Why InPage text turns into strange symbols
InPage was built before Unicode Urdu was common, so it stores every letter as its own private code. Inside InPage those codes look like Urdu. Copy them into Word, WhatsApp or a browser and each program shows the raw codes with an English font instead:
Ž‹¢ ¤¢ ¤œ¢ŒUnicode stores the real Urdu letters. Every current phone, browser and website can show them without InPage or any special program, which is why WhatsApp and Facebook need Unicode.

Where the Unicode output works
WhatsApp, Facebook, X, Instagram captions, Gmail and Outlook, blogs and news websites, Google Docs, Android and iPhone, and Microsoft Word. In Word, select the text, pick Jameel Noori Nastaleeq from the font list and press Ctrl+Right Shift so the paragraph runs right to left. A news desk that posts the same story in print and online can compose in InPage, convert here, and paste straight into the website editor.
Accuracy: the things other converters get wrong
Swapping one code for one letter gets you most of the way. The last few percent is what makes a composer retype a paragraph by hand. The most common complaint is numbers:
InPage keeps each number in drawing order, so 14 August 2017 comes out as 41 and 7102. We find every run of digits, including the commas, points and slashes inside it, and put it back in reading order. Each fix below has a switch in the Options row, so a newspaper desk can match its own house style once; the choice is remembered in your browser.
- Urdu digits. Numbers in reading order, written as ۰–۹. Untick for 0–9.
- Hamza. ئ inside a word (گئے، جائیں) and ء at the end (ابتداء); heh and ye with hamza joined into ۂ and ئ.
- Bari ye. ے belongs only at the end of a word. When it was typed in the middle of one (گےا for گیا), it becomes ی. Untick to leave every ے as typed.
- Kashida. The stretching line (ـ) InPage uses for justified columns is removed, since it breaks search. Untick to keep it.
- Erab. Zabar, zer, pesh, tashdeed, jazm, tanween and khari zabar are kept for Quranic and Islamic text. Untick for plain text.
- Quote marks. Urdu quotes come out as InPage writes them, ’’ at the start and ‘‘ at the end. Untick to swap them if your house style uses the other shapes. Brackets always open and close on the correct side.
- Thousands separator. ۱٬۲۵٬۰۰۰ with the Urdu separator, or a plain comma if unticked.
- Year sign. before the year, as Unicode expects. Untick to write ۱۹۴۷ء instead, which more fonts display well.
English words, web addresses and line breaks inside Urdu text are left exactly as they are.
Converting a whole Word file
If InPage text has already been pasted into a Word document, you do not need to copy it back out page by page. Press "Convert Word file" above or drop the .docx on the converter. Every run in an InPage font is converted and switched to Jameel Noori Nastaleeq, and its paragraph is marked right-to-left. Bold, italics, tables, headers, footers and footnotes are kept. Why do the numbers come out reversed?ہندسے الٹے کیوں آ جاتے ہیں؟
InPage keeps a run of digits in the order it draws them, right to left. A plain character swap therefore turns 2017 into 7102 and 14 into 41. This converter finds every run of digits, including commas, points and slashes inside a number, and puts it back in reading order. The "Urdu digits" option decides whether you get ۲۰۱۷ or 2017.

Is there a character limit?کیا حروف کی کوئی حد ہے؟
No. Paste a full newspaper page or a whole chapter. There is no counter that stops you at 2,500 words. On an ordinary laptop, 50,000 characters convert in well under a second, and the text never leaves your computer, so there is no upload wait either.

No. The conversion runs as JavaScript inside your browser tab. Your text and your Word files are never sent to our server or to anyone else. You can check this yourself: open the browser's developer tools, go to the Network tab and convert something. No request carries your text.

Which font should I use in Word after converting?تبدیل کرنے کے بعد ورڈ میں کون سا فونٹ لگائیں؟
Jameel Noori Nastaleeq is the closest match to the InPage look and is what most composers already have. Select the text, then Home ▸ Font ▸ Jameel Noori Nastaleeq, and press Ctrl+Right Shift for right-to-left. Set line spacing to 1.5 so the tall Nastaliq letters are not clipped. Noto Nastaliq Urdu is a good free alternative.

What about erab (اعراب)? Are they kept?کیا اعراب باقی رہتے ہیں؟
Yes, by default. Zabar, zer, pesh, tashdeed, jazm, tanween and khari zabar all come through as proper Unicode marks, which matters for Quranic and Islamic text. If you want plain text without marks, for example for a web search or an SMS, untick "Erab" in the Options row and they are removed.
