Urdu Fonts Download and Install Guide

InPage ships with its own Noori Nastaliq font, which only works inside InPage because it uses InPage's private codes. For Unicode text in Word, websites and phones you need a Unicode font. Jameel Noori Nastaleeq is the one that looks closest to InPage.

For print-style Nastaliq, Jameel Noori Nastaleeq. For documents shared with people who may not have it installed, Noto Nastaliq Urdu is a safer choice because it is open-source and ships with Android. For forms and tables where readability at small sizes matters, a Naskh font such as Noto Naskh Arabic is clearer.

چھپائی جیسی نستعلیق کے لیے جمیل نوری نستعلیق۔ دوسروں کو بھیجی جانے والی فائل کے لیے نوٹو نستعلیق اردو بہتر ہے۔ فارم اور ٹیبل میں چھوٹے سائز پر نسخ فونٹ زیادہ صاف پڑھا جاتا ہے۔

Nastaliq letters stack diagonally and rise well above the line. With single line spacing, Word and many websites clip the tops of letters like ک and گ. In Word, set Paragraph ▸ Line spacing to 1.5 lines or "Multiple 1.8"; on a website use line-height of at least 1.8.

نستعلیق کے حروف ترچھے اور لائن سے اونچے جاتے ہیں۔ سنگل لائن اسپیسنگ میں ک اور گ جیسے حروف کا اوپری حصہ کٹ جاتا ہے۔ ورڈ میں لائن اسپیسنگ ڈیڑھ کر دیں۔

Download the .ttf file, right-click it and choose "Install" (or "Install for all users" if Word runs under another account). Close and reopen Word or InPage and the font appears in the font list. On Windows 11 you can also drag the file onto Settings ▸ Personalisation ▸ Fonts.
