How to use
- Copy the Urdu text from WhatsApp, a website, an email or Word.
- Paste it into the left box. The InPage code appears on the right; it looks like symbols here, which is expected.
- Press Copy. In InPage, click inside a text box and press Ctrl+V.
- Select the pasted text and choose Noori Nastaliq (or your house font).

Why you cannot paste Unicode straight into InPage
InPage 3 and earlier read text in InPage's own code, not in Unicode. Paste Unicode Urdu directly and you usually get question marks, empty boxes or letters that do not join. This converter rewrites every letter into the code InPage expects, so the text lands as editable Urdu in your InPage page.

Where the InPage output works
InPage 3 and InPage 3 Pro with a Nastaliq or Naskh font selected: newspaper pages, magazines, book composing, wedding cards and madrasa publications. Text laid out in InPage can go on to CorelDRAW or Photoshop through InPage's own export as usual. Reporters who file stories from their phones can send them on WhatsApp; the desk converts them here instead of retyping.
What the converter fixes on the way
- Digits. Numbers are reversed into the order InPage stores them, so ۱۴ اگست ۲۰۱۷ shows the right way round after pasting. Phone text often has 0–9; with "Urdu digits" on, those become Urdu digits in InPage too.
- Arabic letters from phone keyboards. ك, ه, ة and ى, which some keyboards type instead of the Urdu letters, are changed to ک, ہ, ۃ and ی.
- Hamza and bari ye. ئ, ء, ۂ, ۓ, ؤ, أ and آ are written as the letter-plus-hamza codes InPage uses.
- Brackets and quotes. Written with the codes InPage uses, so (اردو) still opens on the right and ’’ … ‘‘ quotes keep their shape.
- Year sign. is placed after the year, where InPage keeps it.
- Erab. Kept by default; untick "Erab" to drop them.
- English. Lines that are only English, web addresses and email addresses stay as they are.
Converting a whole Word file to InPage
Press "Convert Word file" to change every Urdu run of a .docx into InPage code in one go. On the InPage Word file converter you can choose the direction and convert all text, including English-font runs that contain Urdu.

Why does the converted text look wrong until I set a Nastaliq font in InPage?ان پیج میں نستعلیق فونٹ لگانے سے پہلے متن غلط کیوں دکھتا ہے؟
The output is InPage's own code, not Urdu letters, so this page and any other program show it as Latin symbols. It only becomes Urdu once InPage reads it with one of its Urdu fonts. After pasting, select the text in InPage and pick Noori Nastaliq (or your house font) from the font list.

It is built for InPage 3 and InPage 3 Pro, which most newspaper and publishing desks use today. InPage 2.x uses the same codes for the Urdu letters, so ordinary text should paste correctly, but test one paragraph with digits and brackets first. How do I paste into InPage without losing formatting?ان پیج میں فارمیٹنگ کھوئے بغیر کیسے پیسٹ کریں؟
Press Copy here, then in InPage click inside a text box and use Edit ▸ Paste (Ctrl+V). The text arrives without bold or colour because it is plain text; apply your paragraph and character styles afterwards. For a long document with formatting, convert the Word file instead and open it from InPage.

Why are brackets and quotes mirrored?بریکٹ اور واوین الٹے کیوں نظر آتے ہیں؟
They only look mirrored. Urdu runs right to left, so the screen draws an opening bracket as ) on the right of the phrase. Both Unicode and InPage store brackets in reading order, so (اردو) converts as it is and still opens on the right in InPage. Quote marks are a matter of house style: InPage writes ’’ … ‘‘, and the "Quote marks" option swaps them if you use ‘‘ … ’’.

Yes. Urdu typed on Android or iPhone, in Gboard or any Urdu keyboard, is Unicode. Send it to yourself on WhatsApp or email, copy it on your computer, and paste it here. Arabic-style letters that some phone keyboards produce, such as ك and ه, are changed to the Urdu ک and ہ before conversion.
